The first issue of the Operator zine is now available to the public!

Over a few short weeks in a month where the weather was ever-changing, Operator published an open call to its community for written and visual media with a simple objective; publish a zine. This initial pilot edition would revolve around the concept of solidarity, chosen due to our perceived increasing need for community and collective strength on all scales (online / offline, local / global, macro / micro). Operator saw a desire to come together in a time of need, and would hope to initiate this process through collective creation.

Our first issue is now available in our webshop for €10, with all proceeds going to Plant een Olijfboom, a foundation committed to providing water, food, medicine, and medical aid to the people of Palestine. Each copy consists of the work of 29 community members from 5 different continents, and comes with stickers bundled in a glassine sleeve.

This zine is the first iteration of Operator’s intention to establish a platform that showcases the community’s many makers lying outside of the sonic realm. While this pilot was developed by Nicole Martens, Jacco Bunt, Eli Hooper and Katie Takada, Operator hopes to propagate this process through different makers / designers / artists in future issues.
